July 15 to September 2nd, 2023
Galerie Nicolas Robert is proud to present A Symphony of Untold Depths a group exhibition of works by Keiran Brennan Hinton, David Elliott, Graham Krenz, Kris Knight, Ricardo Passaporte, Devon Pryce, and Shoshana Walfish.
In an era saturated with relentless pursuits of visibility and connection, the concept of anonymity emerges as an enigmatic anomaly. Amidst the clamor for self-expression and personal branding, this exhibition presents a selection of figurative works that deliberately side-step the presence of distinguishing facial features. This becomes a liberating act, highlighting the significance of context and environment in shaping identity.
The interplay between absence and interpretation invites us to reflect on the ways in which we construct meaning, connect with others, and navigate the complexities of our interconnected world. By complicating the most common way that humans identify each other, the artists in A Symphony of Untold Depths suggest a visual paradox, prompting contemplation on the nature of the self and the diminishing boundaries between the public and private spheres. Through diverse artistic approaches, these works ask us to consider how we shape our sense of self beyond physical appearances and how such an exercise can help us embrace the nuances of identity.
