Andréanne Godin
Rencontres numineuses

September 9 to October 14, 2023

Galerie Nicolas Robert is pleased to present Rencontres Numineuses, a new exhibition by Andréanne Godin. This body of work includes some fifteen large-format drawings, whose representations invite us into a universe from which a more or less precise narrative emerges. Our senses are put to the test, as the visual and its narrative seek to become other. A mysterious presence is revealed and seems to trouble each image. The sometimes almost photographic rendering of the works, oscillating between realism and blur, leaves an unfathomable aspect to what is looked at.

Originally from Val-d’Or (QC), Andréanne Godin used to hike the Boreal forest trails at the end of her street. She now lives in Montreal. She has recently taken part in several artist residency programs in Canada and abroad. She stayed at Est-Nord-Est during the winter of 2022, at Studio du Québec in Finland (2019) and in Switzerland (2017). In the summer of 2016, she was the first Quebec artist to be invited by the Josef & Anni Albers Foundation, in Connecticut (USA). Since 2012, the provincial and federal arts councils have supported her research on several occasions. Her work has been presented nationally and internationally in Canada, Switzerland, Belgium, the United States, Cuba, and France.
