Caroline Cloutier
Fragments
January 29 to March 5, 2022
Galerie Nicolas Robert is happy to present Fragments, an exhibition by Caroline Cloutier, in our Project Room. With this recent series, Caroline Cloutier synthesizes several elements of her in situ installations in autonomous photographic objects, independent of the exhibition space. She continues her research on photographic devices and their extensions, and in particular reflectors (in this case, colored glass).
This series reaffirms the legacy of minimalist abstraction in her work – particularly the one addressing light, space, seriality, and geometric permutations. While our perception of space is deconstructed, thanks to the color of light, Cloutier blurs the cards – once again – of the materiality of photography, installation, and painting.
Caroline Cloutier holds a bachelor's degree in visual and media arts from the Université du Québec à Montréal and is a master's candidate in Studio Art - Photography at Concordia University. Her works have been shown in Montreal, Toronto, New York, Linz, and Rome, among others. Her next creative residency will take place at the Banff Center and her productions have been repeatedly supported by the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. Her work will be part of an exhibition at the Musée des beaux-arts du québec in spring 2022. The artist would like to thank the Centre Sagamie, the Conseil des arts de Longueuil and the J. Armand Bombardier Foundation.
