Galerie Nicolas Robert is pleased to present Blue Prints, Pierre Julien's latest exhibition. The pieces presented here are the continuity of the work presented at the Foire Papier in the spring of 2017. Pursuing his reflections on raw and industrial material in visual art, Pierre Julien proposes here a body of work at the junction of drawing, painting and sculpture. Through his series Blue Prints, Pierre Julien takes up and divert the photographic process of the same name and proposes a reflection on the double and the reproduction which is, in addition to the questions on the industrial materiality in art, characteristic of his recent practice. Through bold chromatic juxtapositions as well as textural play, the artist transports our gaze to the heart of a pictorial enigma, where instability, fragility and power meet. This visual density tends to create dynamic relationships in integral environments and bases, emerging ones or simply a vibrator to encounter another. While the figuration has been replaced by color and materiality in his works, Pierre Julien now offers an altered space, a place where the eye can wander and contemplate an elusive materiality.

Born in Hawkesbury, Pierre Julien holds a bachelor in Studio Arts from the Concordia University in Montreal. His work have been shown in numerous solo and collective exhibitions in Montreal (QC), Toronto (ON), Los Angeles (CA) and Houston (TX). In 2018, his pieces will be featured in the traveling exhibition Grâce au dessin, that will be presented in Los Angeles (CA), Montreal, and more locations. His work is collected by many prestigious collection, including the TD Bank Collection, the Loto-Québec collection and the Longueuil city's collection. Pierre Julien lives and works in Montreal.
